Common Questions

Why is the app so small (under 5 MB)?

Every sound is generated live by code, not played back from audio files. Nothing to download, nothing to stream.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Murmur makes zero network requests. Turn on airplane mode and it works exactly the same.

Where does my data go?

Nowhere. All stats, favorites, and mixes stay on your device. We have no servers, no cloud sync (yet), and no analytics.

The sleep timer stopped playback — is this a bug?

No, that’s the feature. Murmur fades audio to silence over the duration you set. Tap the Timer tab to adjust.

Can I request a new sound or preset?

Absolutely. Email me. If 3+ people request the same thing, I’ll prioritize it for the next update.

The lock-screen controls don’t work

Make sure Background App Refresh is enabled for Murmur (Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Murmur). If that’s on and it still doesn’t work, email me with your iPhone model and iOS version.

I paid for an in-app purchase but nothing unlocked

There are no in-app purchases in Murmur 1.0. If you see a paywall, that’s a fake — do not enter payment info, and please report it to me immediately.

How do I reset all my statistics?

Settings → Data → Reset all statistics.

Does Murmur work on iPad?

Yes, but it’s designed for iPhone. The iPad version runs in compatibility mode.
